Sewing....

Trying to squeeze a little sewing in every now and then.
Finished 2 more tops...

The top one, the majority was made from fabric that my new blogging friend Jocelyn sent to me. The navy, some white stripes and border are from fabrics she mailed to me. The rest of the fabrics were leftovers from backings of other quilts. Thank you Jocelyn!

This one also was made from leftover scraps. Note to self... do not try to sew with a ‘foggy’ mind after taking a sinus pill. This quilt gave me a fit! I have made it before but these stripes were not my friend yesterday. I trimmed them even, so I thought... turned it the other way and trimmed... nope... finally had to call Mark in to help me. Needless to say it now has a 10” border. Good this I used extra wide backing on previous quilt I quilted. It made the ideal size for QOV and that’s all that matters and it looks awesome.
Kelly brought me a bag of small cucumbers and asked me to make some pickles...

Mmmm.mmmmm...mmmm. Bread and butter pickles. Small jar I gave to neighbor for helping us tear down the ‘dog run’ in back yard. 1 jar went to Kelly and 1 for us. Can’t wait till we get cucumbers in garden, much more to be made. Scrumptious!
I have to clean up the house with everything that came out of my closet, re stack all those quilts, clean up my sewing room and load a quilt on the machine.
That is on the agenda for today. I told myself I had to do this if I want to see if Joann’s on the list to open tomorrow cross your fingers. Now if Hobby Lobby would decide to open back up, I would really be a happy camper!

Doings...

We’ve been a little busy here.
Tore down this patio thing the previous owners used as a dog run. During the day while at work they put them in it, 2 big dogs.

It’s like 8x8... some people should not be dog owners.

2 of 4 posts were rotted, walls were cracked and ready to fall down.
Discovered it was only being held up by 4x4’s surrounded by rocks  and a little cement. 2 screws drilled into a 2x4 on ground. Good thing we took her down. Now to rebuild. The wood was just delivered today. It’s going to be a patio with a swing under it that’s going to be made from an old bed.

Closet remodel for me... thanks to my handy dandy husband! I did all the painting and he made the cabinets and shoe rack slides. I ordered the drawer handles of amazon.

There is another shelf way up above also. Very, very tall closets.

Now I have to put everything back in. Yuck.

I had to buy a small rug to go in there because the flooring won’t be done until we do bathroom remodel which hasn’t happened yet. It will all be done at once. There is more that we have done, but it will have to wait for another day. It’s going on 10:30 at night. Severe thunderstorm alert just rang on my phone and I have a scaredy cat dog. It’s gonna be a long night.

Happy mail...

Today I received the best happy mail ever! Thank you Jocelyn!!

It contains red/white blue fabrics, yardage, thread, bindings and scraps so I can make more Quilts of Valor quilts. Yahoo!
This is an awesome box to get... now I have to get sewing and finish this pumpkin quilt I have been procrastinating on so I can create more QOV’s.

This one, Sandy just finished piecing and I quilted it up. This is #22 for this year.

QOV...

I know, I know, you are probably sick of seeing them. I believe this is #20 & 21.

The one above I quilted with waves, The pattern I bought from Laundry Basket Quilts. The one below is quilted with a new E2E long arm pattern from Creative Stitches for only $5.

It’s pretty cool looking. I know I will use this one a lot. I bought 3others also. A total of 4... 3 with stars and 1 with a bumblebee for Spring. That’s all for now. I started on my closet remodel today. And yes I forgot to take a before picture. Always.

Taco Tuesday...

Boy do I miss my Taco Tuesday’s...
So today... I found out that the local fabric store was open...yippee!
Sandy and I ventured on down... had to call ahead... they were not letting no more than 6 people in at a time... we were the only ones there anyways.
Loaded up on a couple fabrics to keep me busy for a couple more weeks and checked out the sale room. Can’t beat $5 a yard fabrics.
Finished this guy today...
This was the free sew along from Edyta Sitar, Laundry Baskets. For 15 days straight, she gave a different clue and we ended up with this beauty!
I have all my kits that are ready to go sew on a cart.  I picked 1 kit from my cart to sew up and here it is.

It’s a zippered pouch, can’t see the zipper from this angle. I HATE zippers with a passion... I have to admit, I un-sewed 3 times! It is lined if that makes it harder, I have no idea. It’s done, and 1 less thing off the cart. I did take another quilt kit off the cart also, read the directions and it is ready to be cut up.
Here is the quilt I long armed for Sandy, she finished the binding yesterday.

So that’s it for now... tomorrow we are meeting up with Stacy, the Quilts of Valor lady, in Brookshire’s parking lot. I have 5 finished quilts to give her, and she is getting me a roll of batting, more labels, kits and backings.
I can’t believe the amount of people that say they are soooo bored... not here, I have no time to be bored. Between the yards, garden, house projects, the sewing room.... I need help to stay a float. I also take like 3 walks a day with dog to keep her from getting bored.
I am also on a mission to use up everything in my freezer, so I’m trying out different recipes also.

Easter 2020...

Kinda different this year.
Woke up to Tornado watch, then Tornado warning around 2:00am. It was beautiful out.  Not a cloud in the sky. About 3:00am, total opposite. Wind, rain... crazy weather. And the whole time we were up with Lolli, she does not handle storms well. We had lights and tv on, trying to hide the flashes of light and drown out the thunder. Lasted till about 5:45 And we all went to back to sleep for a bit.
Quilted a friends quilt up for her. I’ll post a fill picture after she puts the binding on.

Worked on putting the free quilt mystery quilt from Edyta Sitar together.
Put all rows together.... went on a couple walks.... had Easter dinner... put a puzzle together (from a neighbor, which is a whole ‘nother story)
And then finished the quilt up tonight.

Watching American Idol, then going to bed. Happy Easter everyone!

At Home...

Bonnie and Camille have done it again...

I am just loving this collection....

Matches my house perfectly.  This was whipped up in a couple days. Cut it out one evening, sewed it up the next day, and then quilted it.
I’m in love.

Mask day...

I was in the middle of making a quilt top....
Then my neighbor made a mask for me...
Turned out pretty good...
So then I stopped what I was doing and made 6 more for the family... with her help.
It is a pattern that is in the hoop on the embroidery machine.
*Has wire on top for the fit to the nose.
*has a pocket to put a filter in
*easily can be noted for what side is front and back
*has pleats to fit under the chin
*elastic to go behind the ears.
*comes in small or large
All around it is a very nice pattern.  Top stitching, and just looks nice.
Those are packed and ready to be shipped out tomorrow to Abilene.
Then I went back to sewing and made this.
Ready to be quilted now... maybe tomorrow...

Irish chain...

Finished this beast!

It’s a queen size... 90 x 90. Or maybe a little more.

It goes all the way up to cover pillows...

Long enough to cover the mattress on each side....
this was a quilt a long from a blog called Gigi’s Thimble.
Quilting pattern called ‘Daisy Marie’.
Not sure what I’m doing with it, color really doesn’t match the master bedroom. Possibly in guest room.. we shall see.

QOV...

I’ve been playing with more Quilts of Valor. I’m not sure if I showed this one or not. Easy quilt to make if you are using a panel.

This is a free pattern I found.

The one below, Sandy and I both bought this kit for around $40.00 at Houston Quilt show. This one is hers, but I quilted it up for her.

Took scraps and made the flags. I am going to quilt it using wave pattern. I need backing, I am plum out of backing. I think I have 4 quilts made up that need backing. I’m running out of batting also.

This is completely done. It goes in the pile with the other 6 of completed ones to turn in when we meet up again.

Garden...

Since we can’t go anywhere, here is  what I’ve been working on.
I did NOT get a before... I always think of that when it’s almost done. I can tell you... it was overgrown... entire ground was covered in weeds.
We have a septic system right, smack dab in the middle.

Potting bench stills needs to be painted and a little updated.

2 truck loads of these river rocks for middle, and 2 truck loads of DG for around them.

I bought 4 huge pots a while ago in winter when these were 75% off.

They cover each of septic holes, I guess you call them. The white rocks that I used for edging to separate the 2 areas all came from the front yard. Previous owners had a lot of extra rocks when they did their backyard project and put them in front yard as a border. I relocated them to the garden as they were just sitting on top of grass and very hard to mow around.

Lots of veggies and herbs of all kinds. I have already ran out to the garden for a few things and am loving it.
