1/2 way there...

A boy and his tractor...Started this for the grand baby... For his birthday. He turns 2 in early August.
It's a Counted Quilts Pattern. By, Lisa Muilenburg. Comes in 3 sizes which I thought was pretty neat.
Had to get a jump start on it because he will be here in a week to stay for a month. And I can't work on it while he's here.. I will never get it back if he sees it. I need it done before end of July.
On the bottom, I am going to spell out his name using the Primitive Gatherings pattern. I think also, those come in different sizes too. Someone told me that but I haven't open the pattern up yet to check. If not, I will enlarge them because it says "mini" alphabet quilt on it. But... 42 1/2" isn't really mini.
Then I have to frame it out & almost sure I am putting minky on the back. Depends on if I find the perfect color for it. So that means I have to order it.. Then I still have to quilt it too. That's why I had to get started early. My summer vacation is gonna fly by with a blink of an eye and it hasn't even begun yet.

Burp rags....

One of the girls at work just had a baby boy, a month early. Her theme for Jaxson's room is vintage Hawaiin or Hawaiin vintage. Not really sure what that means but, she got some burp rags from me.
I took 4 Gerber baby diapers, sewed some Hawaiin ribbon that I bought at Road to California over the seams and ta-da... Burp rags.
I love the feel of those real diapers. My kids grew up wearing those.
Rolled them up, put them in a cute baby bag, and I'm good to go for the baby shower.

Complete...

It's done... "Stopped me in my tracks" is finished.
Needs to go upstairs and get a good ironing. Then I need to get backing. I ordered the yellow, Thimbleberries on etsy. Petermichaelfabrics. AWESOME! 5.95 a yard! I will be going back to that website that's for sure! Love it! May be getting more fabrics also.

Any guesses?......

I've been working on this one on and off this week. If you have been following Kaaren over at Painted Quilts bog, then you know exactly what I'm working on.
Yep! "Stopped me in my tracks" quilt. I took this Thimbleberries fabric... Which I have fallen absolutely in LOVE with...
I ordered it online. Then I went to Primitive Gatherings and got this!
It's a perfect match! Look at the cross weave on both, they look like they were made for each other.
They had just put it on the shelf the day before. It's from Moda, a new Christmas line. Something cookie exchange is the line. You can barely read it on the side.
So when you put the 2 of them together....
You get this! I can't wait till it's finished...

Connector Playmats....

It's that time where this little guy & his momma comes to stay with me for a week.
He is all into his cars these days, so I ordered this little playmat from Fat Quarter Shop. It's called Connector Playmats Collection by Northcott.

Then some how I found this deal of the day, and it was a yard of this fabric for .99. Limit 1 yard which was perfect!
Now he has 1 for here, and 1 to take home.

Amelia....

This is Mia, my grand-doggie who this blog was named after. My son Steven got her from a neighbor who acquired her from her nephew and she was not a "big" dog person. At first, I thought Steven having a dog was a big mistake, he was in the middle of college, she was a crazy dog (from being left outside all the time) and just overall I thought it was a bad mistake. I am so glad I was wrong about all of it.
This picture she is a young gal, she lived a long and wonderful life, 13+ years. She lived with me quite a lot. She went off to college a couple times but always came back to me. She was my baby. Through the years, they acquired Lolli, Mia's sister, another wonderful addition to the family.  A couple years after Steven married Ronna, and after law school, he packed up everything and moved back to Texas, taking the girls with them.
Broke my heart! Literally. Tough, tough times while she was gone. Then last night I got the dreaded phone call. They had to put her down. So sad. She will truly be missed. She crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She no longer is suffering and she can chase endless tennis balls all day long now. Miss Mia... I will miss you dearly.

Honey Bee Lane....

Finished this one today. Took me less than a week. It is one of the best, easiest directions to a quilt I have ever put together. It measures 62" x 56". It is by "The Quilt Company", designed by Arlene Stamper & Melissa Harris.
Heres a close of of each of the 5 main blocks.

Isn't it just the cutest darn thing you have ever seen!

I'm going online now to look at all the other patterns. Truthfully, the directions were right on, easy, peezy, and to the point. Couldn't believe how simple it was.
I'm just in love... It is going to move to the top of the list to getting quilted.

Outdoors...

Here are some flowers that have popped up in my yard within the last couple of weeks. There were more but I always forget to snap a picture of them before they wilt away. I always think of it after they are gone. An amaryllis that bloomed for the first time last year & this year after almost 10 years of dong nothing.
I love me epiphyllums...

This is one of the last rose bushs that I have that I have not killed yet. Me and rose bushes do not get a  long too well.

I forget the name of this succulent at the moment. I know as soon as I publish this post it will come to me.

Teacher Appreciation Day...

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Today, a parent brought this cake in for us.
The apple in front and side book, which is hidden,  were made of rice Krispy treats... The base and all the other books were each a different flavor of cake. Yellow cake, carrot, chocolate, chocolate with raspberry filling, red velvet....It was just an amazing work of art. It took us till after lunch to get the nerve to cut into it. It was very, very tasty also!
