Baby blankie....

Just look at this adorable baby blankie a friend made.

Isn’t it just adorable!?

These neighbors here in Texas are just the nicest people ever! I have only known Sandy since we moved here in June. She has never met my son or daughter in law, but yet she made this sweetest blankie ever.

It is for my new grand baby Sloan. I sure hope she, my daughter in law, loves it as much as I do. Makes me want to go and make some just for the heck of it. I’m in love.

Blue scraps...

My blue scrap bin is over flowing and I need to do something.
This quilt has always caught my eye..
Then there’s this one also...
Different shape and off set but same idea..

Here is what I was playing with today. I think I can make it work!

A blue quilt... except that one on top is going to be the label for back. I’m doing Moda 97 for all the background on it. I got a bolt of it on sale from Catching Stitches (Instagram) on a Black Friday sale and she posted it again today also! $74 for a bolt of Moda (Bella Solid) you can order any color.

Homespun rag quilt...

Oh boy.... I wrote this blog like 5+ times because it wouldn’t publish.  I finally deleted the app, restarted my whole iPad and now let’s see if it works.

I have an extended family member who sent me a picture and asked if I could make a rag quilt just like the one she showed me. I said sure. I hadn’t done rag quilts in like 15 years, but it’s like riding a bike. It all comes back to you.
I bought /collected all fabrics and this is it.

I got to this size, sent her all the stats and price so far and asked what she wanted to do. Picture she sent me was a queen size, did she want me to continue?? Never heard back. That was before Christmas.

It’s a homespun, totally reversible, 54x60, handmade rag quilt. Sent her stats again yesterday morning... haven’t heard anything.  Eek!

In process of trying to write this post... she texted me back. SHE WANTS IT! Yes!
Hope it’s ok. Like I said she originally wanted it huge, and it’s not. Queen/king size would got her a small fortune.
UPDATE.... wouldn’t load w/pictures... I’ll try posting without and see what happens... I’ll try pictures at a  later time.
Woo hoo ! It’s all fixed!!

Moda Blockheads 2...

Is still going on, but I am done! Finished. I did 37 weeks of it and I am over it. Week 38, was a ‘doozy’ is what a lot of the designers called it and I wasn’t about to tackle it. Those 6’ blocks... those 1”, 1 1/2” pieces of material... I just can’t do them anymore. There is still like 10 more weeks of it.. yuck!
So I put together what I had, still have a few straggler blocks, but I’m good with it.

My go to batting is Hobbs 80/20. When I first started quilting, everything was quilted with Warm & Natural at the long arm until I discovered Hobbs. I had always been told that there is a top and bottom to this batting and I believe it now. Black Friday sale, I had a 70% off coupon for Joann’s, so I bought a roll of batting, wishing I didn’t now. Looking at the back of the quilt, there are little batting spots all over. They all washed out I’m glad to say, but just look at them. Looks bad. I think that those spots were caused by me loading the batting upsides down. I have also read on a Facebook page that Warm and Natural is really bad for your long arm machine and NOT to use it. Well, I paid a lot of money on that batting and I just can’t let it sit there.... so, I’ll use it up and won’t buy anymore. I hope that’s what caused that mess, not sure what else it could be. Well find out on the next quilt if it does it again or not. Maybe it’s the needle also... maybe it needs to be changed... I’ll do that too!

Woo-Hoo! Another UFO bites the dust!

Found one...

My new little dish that sits on the counter.. it’s a little deeper than I wanted, I think I may make a pin cushion to sit in there but for now I just have my magnetized pin bowl sitting in it. But holds all my pretty little scissors so nice.

This one below is the one I was really searching for...

Then I found this dish sitting next to the bowl, it also had to come home with me. I think I’m just gonna pour those pins directly in that bowl! They were both  in a booth that was 30% off. Score!

The bigger dish ranged anywhere from $23.00-$35.00. I also didn’t expect to see as many as I did. I think I saw like 5 of them. I got the lower end of the deal plus the 30% off. I’m still gonna look around to see if I can find the smaller, not so deep one just laying in a little antique store somewhere.

2 finishes...

It’s January 10th, and I have 2 finishes.
A charity quilt for quilt guild. It’s only like 42x43, but it’s sewn, quilted, and bound!
Then #2...is Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville, mystery sew along. I started it Black Friday and finished it yesterday.

It’s all loaded on the long arm but I can’t get to it till Friday. Which is fine because it’s supposed to be pouring all day. It will give me something to do.
Then I wanted to share this...

Such a cute idea! I know what I’m searching for when I go antique shopping!

Grand baby duty...

Haven’t done much sewing this past week due to grand baby duty.
We had John John here for 5 days while his momma got some much needed rest before grand baby #2 made his appearance. We had to return 2 days early due to an ice storm that was to come in. Phew... good thing we did.
Just look at all the layers of ice on that tree!
January 3rd, 2019... 5:12 pm...
And there he is... all 7lbs, 8oz, 19 1/2’ long of him!
He is just perfect in every way.

I need to catch up on Moda Block Heads 2, block 38, and finish Bonnie Hunters Quiltville Mystery quilt. Now to clean up the house so I can have some guilt free sewing.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
