crafty...

Saw this idea while looking through all my blogs one day and decided that I just had to try it.
I found an image of Santa that I liked and printed him on a piece of music sheet paper I took from an old book. I used the watermark print option and adjusted it to the colors that I thought would look best on the paper.
Likey... likey??

it's over...

reindeer facts...

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer of each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of Winter, usually in late-November to mid-December. But female reindeer keep their antlers until after they give birth in the Spring. So according to every historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, every single one of them from Rudolph to Blitzen had to have been a girl. Which makes perfect sense because only women would have been able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit around the world in one single night and not get lost!

quilting on a stormy day!

Nasty storm woke me up at 4:20 and couldn't go back to sleep. Actually, it wasn't the storm... it was the smoke detector with a weak battery. Every 5 mins, it let out a high pitched beep, then it went to 1-2 mins, then I finally had Mark go replace the battery. After that.. listening to the storm was quite scary! Haven't seen weather like this for a long time!
So as soon as the house was awake, I started on quilting and finishing it up. Now to put he binding on it. My basket is getting low, I only have 5 more in it, then I have to move to the other basket. That one is filled to the brim of quilt tops that I need to buy backings for.

tis' the season...

Tradition... when Kelly is home, all we do at night is puzzles. Watch movies and do puzzles.
This isi puzzle #1 and #2. Can't take the picture without the glare, sorry.
We did #2 today while we were waiting for the Maytag man AGAIN to show up to fix my fridge. But guess what?? I was stood up again!!! 3rd time!! I have not had a functioning fridge since November 20th. Had Thanksgiving dinner out of an ice chest. Looks like Christmas might be the same.
I guess it's time to get Mark on the phone. Some things seem to get taken care of when some people talk to a man instead of a women
Here are some pretties that Kelly brought to me all the way from Texas.
Super, super, old they are..
Perfect for the tree. I have been collecting them for about 6 yrs now, and these fit right in!

rain, rain, rain...

It is STILL raining! This is like the 4th day in a row and it shows rain all the way across on the 7 day forecast.. even on Christmas! I still have shopping to do and I HATE to drive in it because people are such idiots when the roads are wet. I am such a SoCal girl, I will take 100 degree weather anytime over this. The rain is nice every once in a while, and yes we need it, but for over a week straight, no thanks! Bring on the sunshine!

pillows anyone...

Here are a few pillows that I have made or that have been made for me. Holly Days I made for a gift exchange at work tomorrow. Kinda like a last minute thing.. had to be "Christmassy" , I had NO idea what to buy. So I made that to give with a "Hollyday" recipe book I bought.
This is 1 of 2 that was made from an old table cloth I bought at a quilt show.
Marian made this from her "Granny's" old chenille bedspread.. I think that is what she called her. (sorry if I got it wrong Mare). Check out the stocking in the background.. there are 2, I made those also.. :)
Front one was just made from fabrics I had laying around and the back one is the 2nd one I made from the table cloth I mentioned above. This one has a fabric flower and no ruffle.
Marian made this also... I just love it! It sits on my bed, but it didn't look very pretty there for the picture.

good books...

If you have not ever read these books by Terri Thayer, you should. Put them on your wish list now. They are really good quick mystery books about quilting! I was amazed at how good they turned out to be. They do go in order, Wild Goose chase is the first one and then Old Maids Puzzle, then I think Ocean Waves. I haven't finished the 2nd one yet and Santa is bringing me rest.

Oh Christmas tree...

One of our schools had a fundraiser and was selling Christmas trees. They were cut one day and delivered the next straight from Oregon. We were all waiting anxiously for 10:00 on Saturday to come. It came and went... 3 hrs went by... we are still waiting... FINALLY... the truck showed up!
You could really smell these trees from a block away! Haven't had a fresh tree in a long time... It's been soo long, I couldn't find the tree stand! Had to go buy a new one! Those suckers are expensive!!!!! I have a fake one that I just love! Has lights already in it.
So there she stands, the bare, naked tree waiting to be decorated. 6' noble fir.. Better go and see if I even still have any white lights... I may be on my way to Target.

This is Maleiah... she belongs to my nephew, so what is she really?? my step niece??

So Michelle, if you are reading my blog.... you got your wish... you asked me to make you an Eric Carle blankie... and I did... I had not been able to find any fabric after you saw my last one, but they came out with this. It is called the "Very Series". It has 5 stories in one. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very busy Spider, The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Lonely Firefly, and the Very Clumsy Click Beetle. Congrat's Chris and Michelle!

busy weekend...

Mark did the outside lights.. can't see the other side of the house or the back, but we are all lit up! Looks much better in real life.
Inside is getting all prettied up too! This is kinda blurry, but I still have to find a couple of more boxes and finish decorating.
This is the red work quilt that I finally quilted and put the binding on this weekend. I think I actually finished piecing it MONTHS ago.
Lolli thinks every time I lay a quilt on the floor it's for her to lay on. She loves her blankies! She actually has a couple that are hers here at my house. Mia has some too!
I have another sunflower quilt that I finished quilting on the Bernina, but I have to put the binding on it on Monday after I make ANOTHER trip to the quilt store. There is always something I forget to buy when I go!
