How to Make Speckled Easter Eggs

This is how I am decorating my Easter eggs this year!

Quick, pretty perk-ups to bring in the season. For tea-stained eggs, add 2 tea bags to glass of hot water and allow to steep. Lower egg into water for several minutes until desired color is reached. Set aside to dry.
For blue eggs, combine 1 drop of blue food coloring with 1 drop of green food coloring in glass of water. Feel free to play with different amounts of food coloring to adjust the color. Lower egg into water and set aside to dry.
To speckle eggs, we used one bottle of brown craft paint and a toothbrush. Dip brush into paint and lightly splatter and dab around the egg to achieve a random, lightly dotted pattern. Allow to dry. Add Comment "

Saturday doings...

I worked in the yard today....In the high 70's.

Steven and Mark worked in the garage today... On Steven's wine cellar for his house...

While we were busy, Mia and Lolli were rescuing the gator and swimming...

And then I worked more in the yard. We put the stuffed gator in the pool to keep the ducks out. We have a park behind us and there are ducks every spring.

Molly and McGee

Well... if you haven't heard about Molly, you will now. Molly and McGee are 2 barn owls that have taken to a owl box in San Marcos, CA. Molly has laid 5 eggs, and the first owlette was born today at lunch time. MAX is his name. I can't find a bigger picture of her, sorry. This is the coolest broadcast. They show everything live as it happens. There is a day camere and a night camera. The night camera is black and white and the day camera is color. At night, Molly calls McGee and he brings her food. She downed a rabbit, gopher and a rat the other day. WHOLE!!Yesterday he brought her another rat. Can't wait till tonight when he sees his first little owlette. I wonder how he will react!?? http://www.ustream.tv/theowlbox tune in and watch her, it's simply amazing!!! They hit 1 million views by lunch time today and as I write this blog, over 10,000 people are viewing it live!

Friday night and baby boy quilt

This was from a Friday night class. Had an extra day in between quilting for friends, sooo I did it up real quick. Marian told me that this one is called "French Garden" and not the last one I did. I have no idea what the last quilt is called then. Oh well. I think this one is going to the other gal that is retiring this year.
****quilt is called Easier by the Dozen (cuz' it took 12 1/2 yd cuts)****

I sewed this up real quick last night for someone at work who has a new grand baby boy! His FIRST one! We have worked together since forever and our daughters were in college at the same time and both involved in sports also. So his grandson is here visiting from Colorado and this is for him. Colors are better inperson than in the picture. Picture makes it look icky, it's not. It's really cute. I hope they like it.

busy weekend..

Finished the mini spool sampler. Turned out really cute! Got the pattern from Temecula Quilt Co. 6 others in the pattern book, better get busy! They are all just as cute!

The girls came to visit yesterday... stayed the night also! While they were recovering from a full day of playing Mark and I went to see Tim Conway's show at Pechanga. We went with our neighbor's Glen and Maureen, good show! Brought back a lot of memories of the Carol Burnett Show!

Had the day off of work on Friday and finished quilting this baby up. "French Garden" is her pattern name and she is quite big! Bigger then I remembered. There are 2 gals at work who are retiring this year and I beleive this is going to be for one of them. I have till June to finish another.

Oh well, the girls are calling me.. never a dull moment when they are here. Play a little and then I have to take them home. Mark is at Steven's house and they are working on a little project. Under the staircase at his house is an empty spot, he wants to turn it into a wine cellar type thing!. Then he's making US dinner. He is quite the cook! Mama taught him well!!

Miss Bunny...

Isn't she the cutest little thing?? Alison and Midge gave her to me after I had worked by bumm off at work! A little thank you for all the work I had done getting ready for our visit from the rep's from California Distinguished School. Which by the way went REALLY, REALLY well!
They said they were recommending us but it is not official until we get the phone call in early April. Cross your fingers!

Meatball Tortellini Soup

Cold, cold night here. Not as cold as if I lived on the east coast, (Lordy they are getting some mighty cold weather) so I made some Meatball Tortellini Soup. YUM!!! Got the recipe in Country Homes magazine last year. LOVE IT!!! One of my favorites.

I forget where I found this picture, but I sent it to my sister Jackie who nows lives in Mass. and asked her if she got 2 feet of snow?! I thought it was cute!
