This and that...

I’ve been busy... just with lots of things.

We had some friends from California come stay with us and we gave the tour of Waco. Known them for over 30 years and we had a blast!

QOV #9, the middle is a panel from Hobby Lobby.

QOV #10, this one was pieced by Sandy but I quilted it up. She has only made like 3-4 quilts and she is a master at quilting!

I participated in a sew a long from Gigi’s Thimble. I have wanted to do another Irish Chain quilt, it was fun and fast! I love 2 color quilts.

QOV #11

QOV #12. This was pieced by Missy, but I quilted it up also.
Phew! There are others on the cutting board, such fun!

Then I’ve had to tend to Lolli, our 13 year black lab. Spine issues are popular with labs and ours is having issues now and then.  Scares me to death when hers flares up and it takes up all my time when it happens. She’s on the mend now, I just hold my breath every time it happens.

Fresh dog food...

Does anyone out there makes their dogs, dog food?
I googled it one day and on Pinterest there are tons of recipes. In Lolli’s old age, her stomach isn’t quite as strong as it used to be. She can’t eat beef anymore that’s for sure, pretty much chicken or turkey is all she can tolerate. She is about 13 years old, also has had about 3 teeth pulled.
Yesterday was cooking day. One pot is ground chicken and the other is ground turkey. This will last around 2 weeks.  Depending if I feed the other 2 gran-dogs or not.

Normal recipes I use is 3 pounds of ground chicken or turkey, 1 zucchini and 2 carrots grated up, kidney beans, frozen corn or mixed veggies, peas, etc... and 1 cup cooked brown minute rice for each pot. I’ll switch it up and add green beans, squash and other veggies.. I even have cut up an apple (NO SEEDS) And put it in.

I bag them up in zip lock baggies with about 1 cup scoop in each baggie. Put them in freezer and every couple of days I’ll put about 4 bags in fridge to defrost. When it’s time to eat I’ll  Zap them in microwave for about 20 seconds, depends on if it’s still a little frozen or not.  She absolutely loves it! Much more energy and no stinky farts , EVER! I sometimes will put in about 1/4 cup of her dry, grain free food. I use a grain free, chicken & pumpkin dry dog food for older dogs. I think it’s Nature’s Recipe... can’t remember off the top of my head. I buy smaller bag so it won’t go bad or stale.
She’s getting spoiled in her old age but is worth it. I know there’s not much time left so just spoiling her rotten.

Spam....

I have been getting a lot of spam in my comments lately. I see them on the blog but when I go to delete them, it doesn’t show on my edit page. I have looked into changing the setting to have them approved first before publishing and can’t find that option.
Because I can’t delete the comments, I have been deleting the posts because I don’t want anyone to click on them.  Any ideas?? It’s more and more every time I post.
I may just give up this blogging. More of a pain.
Any ideas are welcome. EXCEPT for SPAM!

This and that...

Made some valances up for my sewing room. We had a new store open up here called Ollie’s. It’s a discount store, more like a giant Big Lots. I picked up a package of 108’ curtain panels for $5.99.. bingo! Cut them in half long ways and viola! Valances.
This is QOV #13... it was a kit I picked up from our local person in charge of them.

QOV #14... I had a piece of backing left over from a previous one.... and I used it up.

This is Lolli.... she’s my 13-14 yr old pup. Trying to keep her healthy... laying in an early patch of bluebonnets.

I have been spending a enormous time in garden... I’ll show you pictures next time.. I have been helping Kelly do some work on her house. We spent yesterday power washing her shutters, rocking chairs and porch. Today, her and I painted the shutters and rocking chairs. When I left it was dark so I couldn’t get a picture. She’s going to buy porch paint tomorrow before I guess the government decides to close Lowe’s and others stores because of the virus out there. Our restaurants and gyms closed today. Craziness people. We will get through this!

Middle of March already...

Can you believe it!? Time flies.
Had John John here visiting for almost a week.
Went to Texas Ranger Museum. Church, lunch everyday, worked in backyard garden and  moved A LOT of dirt! Today was an adventure day with Kelly while Mark and I made a day trip to Granbury with friends. We went to about 7 quilt stores and had a blast. Took the husbands along just for kicks. They had fun. They got lunch out of it.
We watched Frozen 2 up teen times and played tag and hide and go seek numerous times. Chutes and Ladders..candyland... and a bunch of other games.
Phew. Retirement is exhausting!
Finished up QOV #13

Someone had given me a huge piece of red fabric and Someone else have me a lot of white and I wanted to use it up. I have same quilt cut out in blue ready to sew up.
Played with the serger and made a tablecloth for backyard.
That’s about all for now.. it’s 10:48pm and I better get to bed. John John will have me up quite early and we are taking him back home tomorrow.

Serger....

Well, I did it... I went and bought a serger. I had one before, many moons ago. Sold it to a friend who sewed clothes.
There have been quite a times I needed one now that in doing a lot of volunteer work for a couple of charity’s. Also, won’t hurt as I’m making curtains and valances for the house here.
This is the one I got.
It is due to come in mail tomm.
Such a great price, and had good reviews. For the handful of times I need it, it will be perfect.
