Pillows...

I put another quilt on the machine yesterday and it failed, I had made it over 2 years ago and never quilted it because I didn’t know how I wanted to do it.  It was a sew along from different blogs that all contained wool in patterns. The quilting pattern I picked to go on top was a E2E criss cross hatched design, but  it was super small and I didn’t realize it till after it had started by the time I turned around and looked back, I knew if I stopped it I wasn’t gonna pick it all out so I just let it go. I wanted a large cross cross but it wasn’t. I am no good a custom quilting...
I knew it was gonna have trouble going over the wool and I would be ok with that. Kinda thinking I would un-pick it on the wool anyways. It just wasn’t co operating with me and it ruined it.
So....
I took a couple of blocks and made pillows.

I know this Harvest one was a Lisa Bongean pattern from her blog...

I have no idea who designed this one. Like I said... it’s an oldie... over 2 years ago.

Thimble blossom...

Finished this one last week...

It is a Bonnie and Camille pattern... using ‘little Snippets’ fabric.

Turned out really cute.
Then when I was shopping for backing fabric, found this other fabric that would be great on my ironing board. Mark made this for me also. It’s perfect. Bigger than an ironing board and has storage!

Matches perfect!

Vintage Fall...

Had this one sewn up for quite a while...
Pulled it out last night and started quilting it up.

Measure
S up to about 66x68

Put it on the bed for the season!
Mark left this am for Mammoth  Lakes, CA for a fishing trip, he’ll be gone almost 2 weeks. Kelly comes home tonight from CA, then she’ll pick dogs up and I can REALLY start quilting!

‘Tranquility”

Finished another one  off today. It is 9:00 at night and I was so excited that I finished it up... I took pictures in the kitchen.

A while ago... a friend who asked if I had anything in blues and browns that would go in their 5th wheeler. Saw this in the store and thought of her.

Quilted it with dragonflies. Perfect since they are in the fabric.

Measures about 62x76. Its in beautiful blues and browns. Pattern is from Pine Tree Country Quilts.

If it’s a no go... it will be for sale.... I really don’t need another quilt in the quilt vault. Hahhaha

Pesto...

So... with all that basil I got at the rain class yesterday, I made homemade pesto!

It’s what’s for dinner tomorrow night. Also froze 3 additional containers of it also. Yum!

Then...
Finished off another baby quilt for one of the teachers at Kelly’s school.

Have a great week everyone. I love Monday’s these days. Brady Bunch Show is on, It is really interesting and is bringing back a ton of memories. Mark has class also, so it’s just me... I don’t have to worry about cooking.

Rain water class...

I attended the Rain Water Harvesting class sponsored by @kwacob at @urbanreapwaco today. Such a cool experience and I walked away with my very own rain water barrel!

This is a tee-pee made out of loofa vine! Never knew there was such a thing. Heard you can take a loofa sponge and put it in dirt and it will grow. Sounds strange, but I just may give it a try.

Pocket melon... never heard of it either... they said it has a weird taste and smells like a cantaloupe.

Harvesting basil..

They even have a compost recycling program called ‘bucket exchange’. You pay a small amount for a 5 gallon bucket and fill it up with kitchen compost.  When it’s full, you bring it back and exchange it for an empty bucket. You can earn free dirt,  plants, classes... it’s a pretty neat deal.

Here is my own rain barrel. Not my color, but it will do the job. If this all works the way they say... I’m getting a full wine barrel and making another one that’s a little bit more fancy.

Next on my list is a rain chain... always wanted one of those.

Stain stick...

Ok. After I cleaned up pictures on my phone I decided to share them here on my blog, but deleted some. Oops.
I posted this on Instagram but it’s totally worth a blog post .
I was painting and backed into the cabinet door that I had already painted and paint was all over my shoulder. I really wanted to see if the stain stick would work on paint, so when I was done, I got out my stain stick and started scrubbing on my wet shirt. It totally came out!
The picture of my shirt is one I deleted. Love the stain stick even more now.

It is from B and N Laundry. I discovered them in California when she had a shop near me. B and N is for Brooke and Nora, her twin girls.

I have used her laundry soap, wool dryer balls and stain sticks. Love every one of them.
When I moved I lost my stain stick and had to order a new one. It’s on the spendy side with shipping cost but worth every penny. Ever since I started using dryer balls, I have never went back to dryer sheets. Dryer sheets have so many chemicals in them, I never knew how awful they were for you. She makes all her stuff and is all natural and chemical free. On her website is her story of how she got started with her husband being very sick. It’s a neat story, go check it out. Tell her Donna sent you.
I think I read somewhere, her stuff is going to be like at Marshall’s or Ross or some store like that.  Can’t remember where I saw that posted. But if you ever see them, snatch them up.  You’ll love them.

Cream and Sugar...

I think I forgot about this one to show you.
It called “cream and Sugar”. Measures 81x81. From a book called “it’s so Emma”. Made the top a few months back, but just quilted it up recently. My machine had just been set up and need something to practice on to make sure it was good to go.

Laundry room...

You have to have a great laundry room since your in there all the time.

New door... bought the antique door at Laverty’s also... glass door knob and everything!

New counter, new sink and faucet.. the cabinet doors on bottom right are new. There was just a little curtain hanging there before.

Subway tile back splash is new also. Has a new LED light above but couldn’t take a picture due to the brightness. It’s all coming together.

Bathroom #2...

Here is the Jack and Jill bathroom.

We removed old counter, replaced it with a new one... new faucets... new sinks... removed and replaced mirror...moved hand towels down to the side. They were half way up the wall so when the towels hang they cover the outlet. Thought that was kind of scary with the towels touching the night lights. Painted and switched out the lights that you really can’t see in picture.
Lights and new knobs and all accessories all in brushed nickel finish.
Phew.... kitchen sink gets delivered on Friday... hopefully it will show up not damaged. We ordered it from Wayfair... let’s see if they will not drive across our front lawn this time.

Bathroom counter....

Couldn’t find a counter that would fit, weird size and didn’t help that the sink itself was off centered to the left.
So....
I painted it!
Went from this...

Ugly chipped, dull and worn sink....
To this..

I bought a tub and tile paint kit at Lowe’s, I looked for a brush on but all I found was spray on.
The process took a full day. Well worth it. If you do happen to do this, wear a mask.... it sure does stink the house up too!

Barn door...

I bought this 5 panel door  at Laverty’s. It’s an antique store that is one of Joanna Gaines store that she shops at, that is only open like 3-4 times a year. They open once they have enough supply to sell, they go all over to accumulate their stock. Canton, Round Rock.... places like that.
Here is the 5 panel door that I started stripping.
Had at least 5 coats of paint and I’m sure the bottom 2 or 3 were lead paint. I put my mask on and got to work. Mark joined in on the fun. I warned him, once you start it’s hard to stop. It’s like when you get a bad sunburn and you peel.... you just can’t not leave it alone.
So we hung it last night.

Ordered the rollers on Amazon. We had the bar left over from the cabinet mark made before. The handle I got at Lowe’s after church today.

There were 2 little cheesy doors here before with lovely gold hardware from the 80’s.

Here is the view from kitchen side, also take note at new light above pantry door I had Mark install also last week. He is taking the day off today.... kinda, I don’t think he can go a FULL day without doing some kind of something.
