Brownie update...

Well..... They were a flop! I did not use "fudge" brownie mix, not sure if that was the issue or not, BUT... They did not turn out.
First of all, I used room temp diet coke, not out of the fridge... And the mix was almost liquid. Bubbles would not disappear and that's just how they cooked, or I should say not cooked. Could not get the gooey to go away.. Almost burned them, dry around the edges and gooey on the bottom. :(
Rubber chocolate is what they tasted like. Sad.... Wasted a good box of Betty Crocker brownie mix.

Diet Coke Brownies??!!

I personnally have not tried these yet, but I plan on it... Sounds like it would work. Someone try it and let me know...
These came from a blog called www.auntpegsrecipebox.blogspot.com and she says it works..

Diet Coke Brownies

THE POST TITLE IS TRUE!
I MADE BROWNIE'S USING DIET COKE!
Now think about it...2 fabulous, delicious, (necessary) items brought together, and as impossible as it seems, made even better!!
I found this recipe at Every Mile a Memory, and when I read the post I almost fell off my chair. I thought this was an impossible recipe, that it was a hoax, that it was an early April Fools day trick, but hey, I will try anything once, so....
TO DIE FOR!
Diet Coke Brownies
1 box fudge brownie mix ( I used the 9 x 13 pan size)
1 (12 oz.) can Diet Coke
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl dump the brownie mix in. Open that can of Diet Coke (try not to drink any of it), and slowly pour over the dry brownie mix. It will foam up a lot. I stopped to stir in the soda a couple of times.

When all of the Diet Coke has been stirred in and well incorporated the batter will be very liquid, but that's OK.
Pour into a 9 x 13 pan which has been lightly coated with non-stick spray (bottom of the pan only),and bake for 30-35 minutes or as directed on the box. I found though that I had to increase the baking time by about 7 minutes in order to have a toothpick inserted in the center come out clean
Let them cool, cut them into 24 pieces and try not to eat the entire pan before the family gets home!

I have also made this recipe using the low fat boxed brownie mix, and I'm not kidding, you can't tell the difference!
Using the low fat mix, and cutting into 24 equal pieces, each brownie is 105 calories, and 0.5 grams fat.
OH MY!

Reversible Towel Placemat...

Had to share this with you, I got this from embroiderylibrary.com...... really simple idea... my computer shows it all wonky, spilling off the sides of my page... but as far as I see, you can still read all the directions.. if not, you can go to..

Reversible Towel Placemat
Free project instructions to make a placemat out of a towel.
In just a few simple steps, two towels are transformed into a reversible placemat! Use different towels for each side, and change the look of your table in a snap.

Take two towels (or one towel and a piece of fabric), add your favorite embroidery, and voila! A stylish two-in-one placemat is ready to go. And since it is reversible, it doesn't need to be laundered as often.

Read on for the simple instructions to make a reversible towel placemat!

Supplies Needed: **Dish towel (mine is 19" wide by 28" long) **1/2 yard fabric (I used lightweight canvas)
**
Medium weight cutaway stabilizer

**Temporary spray adhesive

**Air-erase pen

Designs Used:

I used the large size of the Ripe Cherries, and the large size of the Zesty Lemon. Designs from Winter in Bloom with Echoes and Vintage Jacobean Fruit would also be tasteful on a towel placemat!

Finished Size:

17 3/4" wide by 12 3/4" high

Special Project Notes:

I used a dish towel for one side of the placemat and lightweight canvas for the other side. Mix and match all kinds of fabrics and textures to make a fabulous reversible and versatile placemat!

First, to prepare the front fabric, cut a piece of fabric (or towel) to 19" wide by 14" high. I used a dish towel that is 19" wide by 28" long, so I simply cut the towel in half (widthwise). That way, you can make two placemats with one towel!Or, one placemat with both pieces of the towel. Then, create a paper template of the design by printing it at full size using embroidery software.

Place the template on the fabric where you want it.I placed the design along the right edge of the fabric with the outer right edge of the design about 1 1/4" from the outer right edge of the fabric. Center the design from top to bottom by measuring equal distances from the top and bottom outer edges of the design and the top and bottom edges of the fabric.Using an air-erase pen or other marking tool, poke a hole in the center of the template and mark the fabric. Also, mark the horizontal and vertical axis points.

Remove the template and draw lines connecting the marks.

Spray a piece of medium weight cutaway stabilizer with adhesive and smooth the fabric on top.Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together by aligning the marks on the hoop with the lines on the fabric.Attach the hoop to the machine and load the design.Move the hoop so that the needle is directly over the center point on the fabric. Embroider the design.

To prepare the fabric for the opposite side of the placemat, cut a piece of fabric (or towel) to 19" wide by 14" high and embroider the design just as you did earlier.

Align both pieces together, right sides together, pin in place, and sew a 1/4" seam along the top edge, bottom edge, and one of the side edges; leave one side edge open for turning.

Turn the placemat right side out, press the seams, and fold the fabric of the opening in 1/2" and press. Pin the opening in place and top stitch a 1/4" seam along the entire outer edge of the placemat, and you are done!

Select beautiful towels and fabrics, embellish with your favorite embroidery, and you'll not only have two placemats in one, you'll have a dining table unlike any other!

Now that's clever!

They took and drawer, turned it sideways, added a little paper on the bottom/back and made a clever storage space for the bathroom.. Then 2 eye hooks on the bottom for a towel bar..
Who woulda thunk!!
