Kitchen...

I think I posted some pictures of the kitchen, but here is a before and after. The doors in this picture are being replaced with a sliding barn door that will operate from other side. 

No more 12” tiles... oak wood... black out dated appliances... a couple of cabinets had to be rebuilt..

Mark took these after pictures and I noticed random stuff just laying around...

Should have turned light on above cook top... oh well. Everything is electric in the house, something I have to get used to. I now have a induction cook top, and it’s the closest thing to gas without having gas. Pretty cool. Needs to have certain pots & pans, had to go shopping, bye bye 20 year old pans. 

Hardware came from Target of all places... I searched and searched and refused to pay $15 a knob/drawer pull...love these to pieces!


These windows will be replaced also within the next couple months. Before the cold weather comes.


So that’s the kitchen.... All 3 dogs and all... only 1 is mine... the black one. 

John John...

Well.... my little guy is on the fight for his health and I think he conquered it. Hopefully. 

Last month he came to visit, we had big plans.... I had scheduled swimming lessons for him, we were moving into the new house, Hawaiian Falls water park, I bought a season pass and so much more.

The night he came to us, he was walking a little funny..we thought it was his shoes his Momma put on him. Things just got worse.

He came with the worse case of Eczema I have ever seen, Momma sent some prescription of potent lotion/med to rub on it. Rash on his body in a different place every day, low grade fever sometimes then peaking so high I had to throw him in tub. I got a list of meds to buy and let me tell you, they weren’t cheap! After talking with Momma every day we decided to send him home.

After not being able to walk, lift his arms she finally took him to Dr’s. 

Ended up in hospital and being treated for Kawasaki Disease.

Horrible seeing him like this. After all the treatments of strong steroids, and different things going on, he’s basically allergic to steroids. Poor guy. 

Here he is on one of his better days, this lasted maybe 5 mins. Then he was back to growling.  Never has he done this before. Those drugs do weird things to little people. 

Stayed in hospital for a week. Kawasaki Disease is under control but it screwed up his glucose now and needs insulin shots, though it  should pass once all meds get out of his system. Had a minor flare up day before yesterday and think it’s under control. Goes back to Cook’s Children’s Hosp today for a follow up. Pray for good results. 

This whole thing has taken many twists and turns. I have my theory of what happened and talking with many people my thoughts make sense. I just hope this is all behind him. 

He missed his swim lessons and Zoo Camp. Next summer will be a make up for it all.

Sooo... what has your Summer been like so far???? Mine has been Crazy!!!! Dealing with this and moving into a new house, where BOTH air conditioning units go out within 2 weeks. Home warranties are not all that great as people say they are. 

(My thoughts.... and it’s pure speculation... he went swimming in a small, small lake that I believe is high in bacteria.. that caused the extreme eczema. He scratched so bad he made an open sore. Dr. Prescribed lotion/meds that had steroids in it to control.  With the open sore, steroids entered his system (which he is allergic too) and it went on from there. That’s just my thoughts, but it sounds good to me) But again.... I could totally be wrong.

Painting....

Took one really good coat of paint, but we did touch up some spots... so really 1 1/2 coats of paint.  The blue was harder to cover up than the pink  fuchsia.  Within a couple hours, it looked like a new room.

Scrubbed all wainscoting and baseboards. Don’t think they had ever been done. 


Then..... because I couldn’t stand it anymore... I painted the toilet room, I guess you’d call it.

Discovered when I was taking off the 90’s bathroom fixtures, they painted over striped wallpaper.  Mmm-hhh.. yep. So, I also painted over it. It was like a sea foam green paint I was covering up. Eeekkk, yuck. 

This was the after picture from yesterday. I think tomorrow we are getting cabinets ready for painting and assembling bed frames. Appliances are being delivered also tomorrow. 
We have to replace some wood where the dishwasher goes... they had a leak and didn’t do anything about it. Joy!

Day 1...

DEMO DAY!

We got in... first order of business is to take ugly, cracked 12” square ceramic tiles up.

 I forgot to take after.... I’ll do that today. 

Today’s order of business is.... PAINTING..

There is a FUSCIA colored wall and a wall with a baseball on it that has  bright blue accents... oh boy.... let’s see how many coats of paint it takes.

Cutter quilts...

I went to a garage sale and spied these 3 quilts thrown on a chair. Asked how much, he said $3.00. Sold! I didn’t know what shape they were in, but I felt I had to rescue this poor Grandma’s quilts. I’m sure she has been long gone for a while and these ‘kids’ don’t know just how precious these are. I washed, pre treated the stains..... and nothing. At least the stink is gone though.

Not sure that can be done. Here they are drying after being washed.

This one, with all these half square triangles...Grandma had hanging on display somewhere. She must have run out of blue triangles and used white down at the bottom. It has a piece of Velcro along the entire top of quilt. It’s the best of shape out of all of them.

This one, not sure there is one square that’s in good shape. Either has a stain or rip in each block. But also, hand stitched throughout. There’s no binding on it either. Just sewn and kinda tucked under. Weird. 


This is beyond hope. It’s made from feed sacks, beyond repair.  Stains and rips, tears, just plain worn out,  hand sewn and frankly I don’t know what to do with it. It’s like a flag, you just can’t throw it out! So I don’t know what I’ll do. Any suggestions?? Maybe hold on to them and use as cutter quilts for other projects. Not sure... But at least I rescued them from the bottom of someone’s garage floor!

Pillows...

Made these cute little pillows yesterday.

These I bought at Marshall’s. Plain Jane, to go on twin beds for accent pillows. Then the more I shopped, the more ideas I got. Came home and did these next day.they are going on twin beds for each of grandkids.. should I say grandsons.  

John John will get a kick out of see his name on his bed on a pillow,  and when Sloan gets older, he will too!

They are 16”, feathered pillows. Extremely soft and comfy. 

Play day....

Today was a play day with my friend Sandy. She has a cameo machine.

I tried to put them on Instagram but it cuts off the sides and I can’t figure out how to make the smaller. Well, I can make make the smaller, but can’t get them to stay small.

These all have hidden zippers on the back, but... the pillows that I ordered are so plump and full it pushes the zippers out. Oh well.


These are little zippered make up bags. Or anything you want to use them for.

Our quilt guild is having a challenge and members get to vote on their favorite. I have a chance to win money! Yahoo! Count me in.

JJ Graduation...

We went to Abilene on Thursday for John John’s graduation.

We were asked if he could come home with us. SURE! We have been going non stop all weekend!

Creating sculptures... hikes, museum, swimming, BBQ’s... and the list goes on. Tomorrow we have water day at Kelly’s school with a fire truck getting everything and everyone wet!

This smile tells all! I LOVE it at Gamma’s house!

I posted this on Facebook yesterday but I am posting it here also so I can look back on it in the future and think about just how lucky I am.

Easter Sunday, 1987... the Levesque’s bought their first house in California as a family.

Easter Sunday, 2019... we made an offer and it was accepted  and we bought our first Texas home. 

May 22nd, 2018... we arrived in Texas to start our new chapter in our lives as retired Texan’s I guess you’d say. 

May 22nd, 2019... to the exact date!!! we closed Escrow on our forever home in Texas.

Weird how all the dates all matched... I guess it was just meant to be!

We can’t move in for a couple weeks due to the sellers needing to rent back. Their house is not quite ready yet. I see my Summer being extremely busy. It’s a good thing though!
