Quilted...

Here is another one that just got quilted.

This is 1 of 2 quilts that I made the same with left over shirt scraps from different things. Few of my Dad’s shirts, my father in law shirts, goodwill, and then just some homespuns I had collected over the years. I believe I have just about used up a very good portion of the shirt scraps.

These 2 pictures are of the same quilt. The 2nd one isn’t quilted yet. The binding is next in line.

On Ringo Lake...

Bonnie Hunter’s mystery blocks. I was all good, keeping up with all the clues, then she slammed us with like 4 clues in 1 week. Overwhelming. I know I didn’t have to do it all at once, I knew I could take my time, but wow! Not me.. had to go with it. I like to do scrappy quilts every once in a while just to keep my scraps under control. I didn’t buy any of the fabric in this quilt, used what I had. And I don’t have a lot of fabric at all. Very little compared to what other quilters I know have. I was scrounging at the end. Big time. 

Here is my version..

I am so done with it! Those stupid sashing’s! They killed me. I know there are a lot not going the right way, but I wasn’t gonna undo them. 

Then the cornerstones. For some reason some came out the right size and then others, the wrong size. I ran out of some of the colors and had to add colors just to fill in.

Then since I was running short on fabric choices, I had to make it smaller. It’s 60x76. I used the extra blocks I made in the backing. Again, used what I had and it pieced up quite nice. I’ll wait to show you the back till it’s quilted. It’s pretty cute. At least it was as 10:30 last night.

When cleaning up, I discovered my box of red and white/tan scraps are overflowing. So, I’m thinking my next scrap quilt is going to be a scrappy, red, white/tan snowball quilt from Temecula Valley quilt shop. She has a sew along going on and I’m gonna go for it. That should knock those scraps out real good!

Vintage Farm Girl...

Finished piecing this Lori Holt pattern this past summer...just now quilted her up, gave her binding and a good wash.

I had actually started putting the blocks together myself and got bored. Then a friend asked if I wanted to do a block a week with her, I said sure. Then it was 2, 3, 4 blocks and before we knew it we were done. It’s always fun to share your blocks as you go along with someone.

Added some Ric-rac to the sew on binding that I do every once in a while.

Hint.... purchase the ric-rac in 1 piece. Don’t buy the packages. Tricky trying to piece them together to make a perfect fit.

Did a fun piecing of fabrics on the back so I didn’t have to purchase extra fabric. All the blocks were done with scrap fabric. I was able to do it because blocks are small and pieces even smaller.

Road...

Went to Road to California today and it was fun! I was just strolling along, passing LaundryBasket quilts booth when Edyta calls over to me to come and join her picture!

They were having a Kodak moment with the firemen and she wanted me in the picture, actually DRAGGED me in because i said no at first. Hahhaha.

I have taken a class from her and I think she recognized me I guess... I just love her! I went to sign up for her new block of the month and it was all sold out in the blue color. Darn! That will teach me to procrastinate!

Litzy’s Legacy...

Here is a super cute easy quilt that goes together in no time what so ever.

Why is it when you lay a quilt out, your fur babies think you did it just for them.

She is totally out... laying perfectly in the sliver of sunshine that is shining there.

Working on the backing now, figuring out how to add the extra blocks I made and not use 8 yards of fabric that it calls for. Each block finished at 9 1/2” so I think if I add a row somewhere on the back it will work out. Measures 89”x89”

Mad sewing...

My daughter Kelly came out on December 22nd, late. My son and his family were due to come out on the 28th. So... my daughter needed to make a memorial quilt and other items for her Texas family for their mom that had passed away just recently. We had to finish up shopping, wrapping, cooking AND all the quilting/sewing and all that good stuff BEFORE they got here for the reason is that my long arm machine shares my grandsons bedroom. We were like working our butts off trying to do it all. I put in 2, 8-10 hour days and 2, 1/2 Days of sewing. 

This is what we did.

This blocks of this quilt were made from her shirts that her daughter picked out. There was a bright floral one that I couldn’t figure out how to fit it in, so I did 4 blocks and put 1 in each corner. Her daughter also mentioned she loved leopard prints, so..... that made the border.

Each of the siblings got a table runner...

The backings for these were from her shirts also.

Then each of the grand kids received a square, almost like a pot holder size.

They all have a label and they all have something to remember her by.

Then we had a few extra blocks and made a quick table runner just for the heck of it.

And there we have it! Phew... made it just in time!

Well......

This little baby followed me home this past week.

I had a mid arm machine... well, it wasn’t mine. I was housing it for a friend who didn’t have the room in her house, and well, it kinda stayed here for like around 10 years. It was just a Pfaff sewing machine on an Inspira quilt rack. I had said I wasn’t gonna get one till after we move but things changed. A good friend got one for Christmas and it was SUCH a good deal, I went to look.

They are not making this model anymore and they need to clear out their stock. Parts and warranty are still honored and covered, they just came out with another name of one. 

It has an 18” throat. The other 5 1/2”. 

Here is the first one I’m working on. 

I would rather not do this part, I like to quilt by paycheck, it’s getting rather expensive. Especially when I have 15 waiting. I just got 3 back and it broke me. I felt sorry for a single mom who just moved here from Kansas and needed some extra cash for Christmas. It was rather on the ridiculous expensive side. Oh well, hope she got something real good for her son. I told myself if I want to keep making them, I have to finish them completely. It took me around almost 3 hours from start to finish just to quilt it. On the other machine it would have taken 8+ hours, trust me I had done some that lasted days.
