Seaworld...

Took Mark and Kelly to Seaworld on Friday to swim with the Beluga Whales. I won tickets through a McDonalds game a couple of months ago.












Had an awesome time... Next time the Dolphins!

Sew-a-longs...

On Facebook, there is a wool appliqué group. And that group has formed 2 additional groups. One called winter wonderland and the other silent night stitch along.
I think I'm crazy for doing both, but I can't wait to get my patterns to join in on the fun!

2 Christmas parties done... Check!

#1 party...We had my staff Christmas party here this last Friday night and I am happy to say everyone had an awesome time even though it was raining. We crammed everyone inside and had a great time. Started about 2:30 after school was out and ended after 10:30!!



I totally forgot to take pictures, so here's some from around the house.


My project this week is to somehow label/embroider/stitch everyone's name or initials on the stockings. Hard to remember who's is who's these days.


Santa was a new addition to the family this year. I adopted him from a new store I discovered this past year. TPT... Near South Coast Plaza... OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! I'm in love! A car load full of other things also came home with me.


#2 party... Saturday night...Also forgot to take pictures..had some friends over that we have known for over 29 years. It was a great night for food, friends, drinks and cards. We all bought our 1st house together in the same neighborhood many, many years ago.
4 more days.... I can Do this! Phew!

More bindings....

Helping a dear friend out while she is dealing with major health issues that is not letting her remember the fun things.
This is the 4th batch of unfinished items that she has given me to finish up for her.



This stack has 2 quilts that needed bindings, another needed a backing, and a pillow that needed the finishing touches added to it.

Hoping and praying for a much better New Year for her!

Binding...

Put the binding on this baby today in between decorating for Christmas...
I'm soo happy!



-I used a wash-away applique sheets to do the piecing and I am happy. It's not stiff at all... Love it!

Ocean Fishing...

It was a wonderful day. Spent it with good friends, wonderful weather, (if I was dressed for it). On the ocean...









Saturday it was almost 90 degrees in Newport Beach, so on Sunday I dressed for 90. Not the case... Sun never popped out till almost 10:00. The further we went out the worse the fog got and colder... OH MY GOODNESS!
Fishing... Well... Let me just say... NEVER do the "groupon" special on the Internet. You are herded on like cattle, elbow to elbow and when the Captain says, "drop it", go, Go, GO! All 100 lines go in the water and everyone is trying to catch that 1 fish, and when someone does... 10 other lines get tangled in along with that one. Sheesh. I did it about 3 times and I was over it. I brought my line in, went upstairs, found my spot in the sun and watched everyone else do the madness. Yes, I people watched.
It was a good time to sit and think and be thankful for everything I had!
Next time.... I will pay the extra money and charter a boat with only 8-10 people and have a more wonderful time than ever expected!
We did though, bring some fish home. Maybe enough to make fish tacos.
Some of those ocean fish.... Are AMAZINGLY beautiful.

Rainy Saturday..

While finishing up projects for a friend, I found one of my own. Snowman tea towels are Ann's, chicken tea towel is mine that I found hidden away.

Goodbye October...

Time put put away the Halloween decorations....



Don't forget to set your clocks back tonight also.."fall back", yes! We get an extra hour sleep, or in my case, and extra hour to sew!

gotta love Kim Diehl....

Finished this one this last week and delivered it to the quilters yesterday. Actually I took 2 to her! Stopped at a quilt show in San Diego also. North County Quilters had a show going on in San Marcos. Oh my goodness... What a tiny little thing it was. Then of course I had to stop in Sewing Machines Plus... Hhmmmmm, getting closer to getting a machine. Thought I would give ol' Betsy one more try on something small. Started off good, then I spent 2 hrs un-ripping everything. Not sure if it was the appliqué that was throwing it off or all the seams. But I pressed and pressed and it was pretty darn flat so I just don't know.

Punkins ...

There was a class at Country Loft that I missed where they made these adorable punkins. I just had to have the pattern so I ordered it. I can't wait till I get it. I just love these things!

Had a friend go to a Texas Wedding and she sent me 2 pictures.

Pomegranates......

I de-seeded 14 pomegranates today in a matter of like 10 minutes...
Fresh fruit for my morning smoothies and 5 containers in freezer.. 1 per week. I'm set!






I tried juicing them, but it was wasting more than the juice being made.

Aren't they just adorable!!? The bottom one is a new twist on a rag quilt. Who woulda thunk to make strips across instead of all the silly squares... Love it, but not enough to make another... I have had my fill of those!

Trying to fix it..

I am doing the Kim Deihl quilt of the month...
1st month.. Made this...






Still needs to be quilted...
Then, the 2nd month, made this one..

With the leftovers from those... I made this...






I just bought the black fabric for borders. Because... I am going to appliqué...





All kinds of flowers, leaves and vines all around the edge. I am going to wait till after its quilted so I don't have to customize it and I can just add them right on top! Pretty smart, huh?
The reason I am getting backed up on quilting is, I am seriously thinking about a new machine. Mine is very, VERY finicky these days. More of a hassle than pleasure to quilt. Someone mentioned a 15" Juki.. Anyone heard good or bad things about them??

Quiltfest....

At the Palm Springs Convention Center was the BEST quilt show ever. I have not 1 thing to complain about. I wish, hope, and pray they return every year. It was almost like a mini 'road' or Long Beach' show.
The quilts were amazing! The were filled with hundreds of quilts throughout the globe! Lectures, workshops, vendors... Just awesome!!
For example... One display they had on quilts...















If you get a chance, go to www.quiltfest.com and check out where there future shows are and see if there will be near a show near you. These 2 brothers did an amazing job.. 2 thumbs up!!!

Palm Springs...

Because it's not enough where I live I'm heading to Palm Springs on Sat to the Quilt Fest...



Should be a fun filled HOT day!

Memory quilt....

Over the summer we had the Secretary of out school pass away very unexpectedly.
The week before this happened she was having a grand ol' time in Hawaii with here family.
So I so graciously, made a Hawaiian quilt....



Had the entire Staff sign flowers in the shape of a lei on the back...



The picture was their family picture they took while on vacation there...
Then made a label..



So sad.... Cherish each and every single day my friends!

Over the river....

She's done and ready to be quilted.



Worked on the stitchery part in evenings when I watched tv.. Which wasn't very often. Took all day Saturday to sew her up.
