new quilt shop...

Just wanted all my fellow bloggers who live in and around Riverside area, that there is a new quilt shop open in Murrieta!!  Just opened almost 3 weeks ago, fabric is slowly coming in, but I am almost possitive it is gonna be a GREAT store!

Alaska quilt

Take a look at this quilt I noticed the night before we left, hanging at front counter of the hotel desk.... Gorgeous !!!!!
They took basic blocks and then top stitched an Alaskan theme cut out under each one. LOVE IT!!!

Fairbanks...

Went on a riverboat cruise to a Athabaskan village. Boy times have changed! Not sure I could live in just a plain cabin, no electricity,running water and just a fireplace to keep warm. EEK! And what they eat, I would be a vegetarian for sure!





Puppies getting ready for a dry run of the idinarod. They really aren't puppies, but they sure are cute! We got to pet them afterwards.

Flowers

Alaskan's take their flowering seriously! Every where we went there were wine barrels filled with flowers or hanging flower pots. You would see people tending to these, taking 1 dead leaf off at a time. I would just crack up!

Fishing....

Well....between the 2 of us, we caught about 25 salmon, easy...could have been more, we stopped counting.

We signed up to take a 3 hour train ride to White Mtn pass, but ended up taking us to Frasier Park in British, Columbia...14 extra miles...gorgeous views, but ended up being 5 HOURS LONG!!!! There were 5 trains ahead of us and 1 of them was having engine troubles!

Seafood lunch...

I don't do anything sea food, but one day when we were cruising, I think it was glacier bay, they put on a spread that was unreal! Here is how they decorated the tables..












I didn't get any pictures of the food because I didn't stand in line. I snapped these as they were setting up...

So far, I have seen many, many eagles, whales, dolphins, otters, I even got to see a bear! Far away though, I want to see another one just a little closer, not too close though!
So tomm morning, we awake at 6:00 am, to give them our luggage and then we are on our way to Talkeetna by rail..
Sport fishing is on the calendar...let's see what I catch!!!

College Fjord, Alaska...

We just did scenic cruising this time, still was amazing... This is the first day of icky weather.. When we were at glacier bay yesterday, that was only the 2nd day of sunshine the captain has ever seen. We did like 3 passes through and there was amazing calving going on!!!

Zip lining through the rainforest...7 times!, crossed a suspension bridge, repelled down from a top of a tree, slid down a slide, that was I don't know how long, went on forever!!!!
