Busy Saturday...

Started off playing in the sewing room.. Put 2 labels on quilts... I'll have to show you the quilts later, I need Mark to hold them up, but he's busy and it will be dark before he's done.
Then I sewed the binding down on the little birthday mat, then came the kitchen towel..

I put little "peeps" on it for Easter. Still have to clean them up.. I see loose black threads on their eyeballs.
Then I moved outside.

Did some weeding, played with the new vegetables and herbs, and just cleaned up a bit..
Then... I had a project... We have someone who has been helping out at work while the secretary has been out on leave. Her last day is Monday, soo..
I made a little something for her (well Mark really did the hard part)

And after...

I thought about flowers, but they will just die off... So, since it's Spring, I thought little plants would be nice. She will have tomatoes, basil, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes to take home and plant in her own garden. Then she will have a super cute little box to use any way she wants to.
Hope she likes it.
And before I knew it, it's 6:30, tired, hungry and the dodgers are on tv and I don't feel like cooking or going out.. Not sure what I'll do, I do know the spa is calling my name though..mmmmm... It's gonna be a good night!

4th x's a charm...

I wrote this blog 3 x's yesterday and every time I was just about done, blogger just closed out..grrrrr
So... Here goes again..
I dragged Mark down to LaMesa yesterday to the Country Loft Quilt Store. They are clearing out the majority of their fabrics. They are keeping the wool part/kits and fabric that goes with, but everything else is 35%off and patterns are buy 1 get 1 free. (Not JoAnn's)
I was shown their newest block of the month a while ago and it didn't WOW me, but when I saw it hanging, quilted and finished..OH MY!!!

It's so different! Not seasonal like they usually are, and I just LOVE it! Kinda on the high side $$ for a BOM. But what the I splurged! Happy Birthday to me!!
Look up close... The little sheepies... The quilting... I love it!

I have the first 2 mos already... Woo Hoo!
Also came home with enough fabric for 2 backings, (which I'll use now) and like 4 yards of other materials. This making a stash is all new to me. I have Never, EVER had extra fabric to choose from. It's kinda scaring me. I'm under pressure now to use it all.. I don't think I like it.

Saturday class...

The famous David Taylor from the quilting world was in Fallbrook Thurs thru Saturday and I was lucky enough to be able to take one of his classes. I played hooky on Friday and I am so glad I did. On Thurs, he was a guest at our guild and Fri and Sat he had classes going on all day.
If you go to, I think it is... You can see some of his famous quilts..
These are definitely not the greatest pictures... But here he is... He's a crazy one, that David is!

This quilt he is showing is his latest work in progress...

When it is done, I'm sure it will sell for the many thousands of $$$$ that all his others sold for! And we were lucky enough to see a preview.

Rainy day Saturday...

This is what I did on Saturday... Not the stars... I had been working on just assembling the stars off and on during the week... Saturday, I made each row and then connected them all. I thought is was never gonna end...

Each square is 10 1/2"... And there's 7 across and 9 down. No border for this one... It will never fit on the machine upstairs if I do... It's gonna be close as it is.
Almost Finished up this little placemat for a birthday.. Have to sew binding on.

Finished up an Easter pillow... It's all crinkly because I shoved all the batting in..

Then I made some yummy, yummy.. Meatball, spinach, Tortellini soup..perfect cold, rainy day for it.

And then on Sunday... I'm half way done with making a quilt for a Christmas gift... You can say I'm ahead of schedule... If I keep it up!! Sorry I can't share that one... That someone may be reading this.
