high chair..

Needed a high chair cover for my kids high chair. It is a Jenny Lind high chair I got for my first born 29 years ago from Sears! Looking on line the cheapest high chair cover is $90.00! Can you believe it!?? NO WAY JOSE was I gonna pay that. So I attempted to make a cover.
Turned out pretty good. I have enough material to make another so if I need to, I can. I also know now what to do next time to make it better!
So now when any one comes over with a little one, they now have something nice to sit on.

3 years ago today Grandad left us. My dad..
This picture was taken like 2 weeks before. He was sicker than a dog, but still had his sense of humor. Here he is pretending here that he is a priest and he is blessing us all. So for 44 years.. only 3 of them had we ever lived apart. That's a LONG time! Sure do miss you lots Dad!

Emily, Kelly's friend came to visit from Arizona. Then the next day, more friends, the Beltramo's. We started out with lunch, then we went swimming and the we all played the tooth pick game in the pool! Awesome fun! Hilarious! As you can see, we are all looking for the stupid toothpick somewhere in the pool!
Then after that, and a yummy BBQ chicken dinner, we all loaded up in the truck and went to the park to play a game of whiffle ball.
Then it was dark so we broke out the glow sticks! Put a glow stick in the ball, each base and one on everyone, It was a hit! More laughs! Parents vs. kids, kids won! Pictures didn't turn out, hmm... wonder why. (Looks like a skyline)
Then we came back and celebrated Brynley's birthday, She turned 6 while she was visiting. So we enjoyed an ice cream cake from Baskin & Robbins. In the picture are brother Bennet, Dad, Brian, and the birthday girl. Then after that... All the kids had a slumber party downstairs. I forgot to take a picture of that. Darn! All had a good time.

Wild Animal Park..

Mark, Kelly and I took off to the Wild Animal Park Monday morning. Had a good time, LOVE the year passes! Great place just to go and walk around. Mark, not to so much. Every time I go, I come home and have a to-do list for my yard!
So pretty! If I lived closer, I would go EVERY day! It would be so much fun.
Giraffes eating lunch...
Kelly in the larakeet landing! You go in with a little cup of nectar and the birds come and land on you and drink it.

Ramblin' Rose meets Jamestown I can say is finished. Put it in the pile of tops that needs backings. Yahoo!
These pictures do not show the true colors. I might need a new camera. This quilt is really dark and the pictures make it look really light. IT"S HUGE! Queen size, not even sure if I can quilt it, I think it is too big for my machine!

up for a hike?

Went out for a hike to the Santa Rosa Plateau. Beautiful there, a little dry, but pretty. This isn't even the best trail.
We had 3 to choose from and we picked the least favorite we found out in the end. So now we have to go back and try the other 2 trails. We walked almost 4 miles this time.

block of the month..

Got this quilt kit.... "Ramblin' Rose Meets Jamestown". It was originally a block of the month kit at the Cottage, but I have the whole thing. You are to use these templates from Marti Michell called Perfect Patchwork Templates. WHAT A PAIN!!! Each one that I have cut out, takes me no less than 1 1/2 hours to cut, piece and sew. Some have taken way longer. That lovely reverse sewing sometimes , or "frog" stitch (rippit, rippit). It happens, the directions aren't clear sometimes.
I haven't seen the finished product, have no idea what it will look like or even suppose to look like. Just have a copy of it printed off the printer that was running out of ink. So really it's a mystery kit!. hehehe. It will be HUGE! 82x106. Queen size it says. I took this pictures a couple of days ago, I have just 2 blocks left. YAHOO!

1 more day..

Yaaayyy...Kelly comes home on Friday! (The one with the sunglasses on) She hasn't been home since Christmas. She will be here visiting, just shy of 1 month. We have a lot of field trips and projects planned. Don't think we will be able to do them all, but we'll try.
Here she is in the red t-shirt. She is in Arizona now helping out at a FCA softball camp. Can't wait Kel! xoxo, mom

almost free....

Got this in Fallbrook a while ago at a "Clean House" sale. Clean House is a show on TV where a crew goes in and cleans someones house and the re-does a room in the house with earnings from everything that they sold from when they cleaned it. I got an old drop leaf table, some odds and ends and this quilt top. Payed $20.00 for everything! I just LOVE bargains!
So I finished quilting it, still have to put the binding on. Can you believe I do not have any navy blue material! Darn, have to go visit Marian!

Happy 4th..

Had to break out some red, white, blue fabrics for the upcoming Holiday. The quilt above is the front, quilt below is the back... reversible...
The little table topper I made from all the leftover pieces. Makes for a great tablecloth...
This one is a rag quilt I made with just my scraps, just a little hanger I hang under the shelf I have my Dad's flag on.
Each blue square I sewed a star on, turned out kinda cute. I use it a lot as a tablecloth also. It has had many a washings in the last 3 years.
Happy 4th of July to everyone! Have a safe holiday!
